The Unique Spool has been a fabric and pattern mail order company since 1990. Owned by Roberta Dent, the early focus for our company was unique African fabrics and patterns, including the beautiful designs of  handmade mud cloth from Mali. In 1998, we diversified to include fabrics from the Pacific Rim.  Since 2002, we have added several new lines of products to our site, including but not limited to:

(A) Hand-painted Sarongs from Indonesia – Pretty, interesting & includes a free instruction sheet for wear.

(B) A Fabulous Line of Buttons – Wooden, bone or coconut shell, these designs will complement almost any wearable art project.

(C) Jewelry & Beads – One of a kind items from Africa & India. Limited quantities are available!

(D) Quilting Needles – We’re now carrying betweens & sharps! Made in England.

(E) Marionette puppet patterns and kits – Fun to make, kids love these easy to walk, 4 string critters.

(G) Fabulous flannels and soft cuddly fabrics – Animal and solids flannels, plush fabrics.

Our Hours of Operation

We are open for from 9am to 5pm PST, Monday – Friday. In addition to our web site, we welcome customers wishing to visit our showroom (by appointment only).

Return Policy

Customer service is very important to us. We welcome exchanges. Cash & Credit refunds are available within 30 days of purchase.

Shipping & Ordering

In general, we ship within seven working days for credit card & money order shipments. Please note that this may be slightly longer when we are at trade snows. Check orders are shipped once the check has cleared the bank.
