Tree skirt and wall-hanging just in time for Christmas.
The pattern is derived from the cottages in the Methodist Campground on Martha's Vineyard, MA. Religious camp meetings started in the early 1800's and by mid-century were flourishing. The houses here started out as tents and in the 1860's evolved into the 300 cottages remaining today in a wonderful old oak grove. Each cottage is unique, covered in gingerbread and colorfully painted. It is like stepping back 125 years in time.
Using old lace and doilies would greatly accentuate the cottages. The pattern could also be used for a pillow or a whole quilt making each cottage out of different fabric.
